‘SAVE THE BRAHMAPUTRA RIVER’

Venue : GUWAHATI PRESS CLUB, GUWAHATI CITY, INDIA.
The basic AGENDA for the campaign of ‘SAVE THE BRAHMAPUTRA RIVER’ shall be as follows :
I Creation of awareness for prevention of waste disposal and/or dumping in the River Brahmaputra;
II Prevention of tree-felling on the banks of Brahmaputra and creation of alternative agricultural so as not to affect Brahmaputra & to prevent erosion;
III To find scientific & eco-friendly ways to prevent flooding by Brahmaputra and to improve current flood measures & procedures to improve the living conditions of those affected by floods;
IV To raise awareness of the threats faced by declining species that live in or around the River Brahmaputra, and to find ways of ameliorating these threats;
V To create awareness of the potential dangers of national and international dams already constructed or awaiting constructions or planning permissions in and around Brahmaputra River, in Assam, India, Tibet and China.
